A water filling customer achieved $478,000 in annual savings at full production rates by eliminating under and over filling.
A water filling customer was experiencing issues with under filling and over filling of water bottles. Compensating for the under fills they were increasing the amount of water they filled into each bottle thus compounding the problem of over fills. They were giving away thousands of dollars annually of water they could be selling for a profit.
Customer had been using SMC VQZ valve manifolds. The SMC valves were replaced with MAC Bullet valves on one filler equating to 240 total valves. The MAC Bullet Valves were found to be much faster and more repeatable resulting in a more accurate fill. Changing the valves achieved three primary goals for the customer:
1) reduced under fills
2) allowed them to lower the fill target and hit it accurately which enabled them to see much less overfilling
3) faster component replacement, in the event they see a future valve failure, enables them to replace the MAC valve in 10 minutes versus one hour on the old manifolds.
The new MAC Bullet valve solution resulted in maintenance savings, production savings, over fill savings, under fill savings, meeting regulatory rules on fill levels, and recaptured water savings. All of the savings amounted to $478,000 annually at full production rates.
