Food Drive Challenge 2012
Posted on: March 1st, 2012
March is Minnesota Food Share Month.
Today started our 3rd Annual Biggest Giver Food Drive Challenge for our designated charity, the PROP Food Shelf in Eden Prairie, MN. Hartfiel was introduced to this challenge through our customer, MGS Machine and we have made a significant impact in the past. The first year we collected more than 500 lbs. of food and $175 in cash, year two we increased that amount up to 750 pounds! This year we will work hard to reach or exceed the 750 pounds again.
The 2012 Food Drive was kicked off with a special breakfast event. Employees traded food donations or cash donations for a bagel breakfast. Throughout the month of March additional food raising events will take place as we work hard to exceed our goal.
March 7th – Pizza Lunch
March 15th – Bake Sale
March 22nd – Chili Contest
The Hunger in America/Minnesota Study, released in March 2010, found that hunger has doubled in Minnesota over the past five years and that 40 percent of those seeking hunger relief in Minnesota are now children under the age of 18.
According to the Minnesota Emergency Food Shelf Network, 11% of the children served by Minnesota food shelves are forced to skip a meal because there is not enough food at home and 43% of their parents skip meals.

Another Patent for Hartfiel.
Posted on: February 22nd, 2011
We just received notice that our lastest patent application has been officially approved. This makes patent number 3 for Hartfiel Automation; all thanks to our own Steve Laumer and Gary Lagro.
Their invention “relates to control systems for hydraulic actuators, and more particularly, to the control of hydraulic actuators at certain positions in their range of travel.”
Abstract: A system for controlling motion of a hydraulic actuator during a portion of its range of motion is described, including a sensor on the hydraulic actuator for providing a signal indicating that the actuator is near a portion of its range of motion, and a pneumatic control valve that is configured to selectively modify a pressurized air control signal to in turn restrict flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic actuator. The hydraulic actuator control system further includes an electronic controller for controlling the pneumatic control valve in response to a signal from the sensor. The hydraulic actuator control system thereby slows the motion of the hydraulic actuator near the portion of its range of motion.

Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal Honors Jeffrey B. Murphy as Small Private Company ‘CFO of the Year’
MINNEAPOLIS, MN–(Marketwire – December 8, 2010) – Jeffrey B. Murphy, CFO of Hartfiel Automation, was recently named the winner of the 2010 ‘CFO of the Year Award’ in the category of Small Private Business for the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. The announcement was made during an awards luncheon Wednesday November 18, 2010 at the Hyatt in Minneapolis, MN.
For each of the categories, CFO candidates were evaluated based on criteria measuring the extent and effectiveness of their work. Examined areas included: recent revenue growth, regulatory compliance, annual revenue, pay, tenure, etc. Nominees were then pared down to a final three within the different CFO categories.
Mary Jo Corson, Executive Assistant at Hartfiel said, “I have known Jeff for about 14 years. I have been very fortunate to work with him in both his CFO and CEO capacity. Jeff is a very honest and caring person and speaks from his heart. I was so pleased to be able to attend the CFO Award program and see that he was recognized for his achievements.”
Upon his return to Hartfiel headquarters, all employees celebrated Murphy’s win. Myron Moser, CEO, recounted to the gathered group the many accomplishments and company gains attributed to Murphy. Murphy responded, “I am honored to be named CFO of the Year. My success is attributable to outstanding execution by my finance teammates, a management team that listened, believed and executed on the ideas that I brought to the Company and a CEO, Myron Moser, who trusted and was open to great change. Hartfiel is a very special company. It has great culture built on integrity and ethics delivered from the top down. The employee group is very talented, and when you walk in the door you can tell how different and special Hartfiel really is. Thank you and please know that each of you share in this Award.”
