Patrick Schusted

President, CEO & Chairman of the Board

Patrick L. Schusted is President, CEO, & Chairman of the Board of Hartfiel Automation. Schusted has over 10 years of experience, joining Hartfiel Automation as a salesperson in 2004. Schusted was soon named President of Hartfiel Automation in 2013. In January of 2020, he also became Hartfiel’s CEO. Pat continues to have an active role within the Sales and Marketing departments, making sure Hartfiel reaches new areas of innovation while staying ahead of industry trends.

JEFF MURPHY

CFO, Treasurer & Secretary

Jeffrey B. Murphy is Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer & Secretary for Hartfiel Automation. Murphy joined Hartfiel in April 2009 and brings more than 25 years of Financial, Operational and leadership experience, including over five years as President and CEO of a publicly traded company. In his position, Murphy is always on the trail of the next financial opportunity for Hartfiel Automation.

GARY SIMONSON

Vice President of Operations

Gary W. Simonson is Vice President of Operation. Simonson joined Hartfiel in 1986 as a Technical Inside Salesperson. In 1989 Simonson moved to Outside Sales and in 1991 became Inside Sales Manager. Simonson joined the leadership team in 1994. His responsibilities include overseeing Inside Sales, Purchasing, Value Added Assembly, Quality and Distribution Centers.

1958

Hartfiel Automation founded by Bill Hartfiel and headquartered in Eden Prairie, MN serving Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and part of Western Wisconsin.

1995

Hartfiel expanded it’s primarily pneumatic product offering to include motion control, robotics, sensor and vision by partnering with vendor such as Yamaha Robotics, Kollmorgen, B&R Automation, Balluff, SICK, Murrelektronik and Canfield.

2002

Hartfiel acquired Des Moines, IA based MidStates Motion. This newest addition to the Hartfiel family serves the Iowa and Nebraska markets.

2003

Opened new branch office in Kansas City serving Kansas, Western Missouri and Oklahoma.

2004

Hartfiel continued to expand its territory with a new branch in Dallas, TX with service to all of Texas and Maquiladoras, Mexico.

2008

Acquired Houston, TX based Fluid Power distributor, eFluid Power.

2014

Opened new branch office in Atlanta, GA

2016

January 1st, Hartfiel Automation acquired Advanced Pneumatics, an MDN sister company headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA along with a branch office located in Concord, NC.  This acquisition allowed for further expansion into Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, The Carolinas and part of West Virginia.

2019

Acquired Fiero Fluid Power with location in Salt Lake City, UT and Denver, CO. These two branch offices now operate as Fiero Automation, A Hartfiel Company and serve Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and parts of Eastern Nevada.
